The Story
MEISSEN's first model master, Johann Joachim Kaendler, jokingly criticized courtly society in 1753 by holding a mirror up to it: he created a monkey orchestra consisting of 21 hand-painted figures, the famous "Monkey Chapel". Both were in vogue in arts and crafts at the time: the monkey as a motif, as well as mischievous criticism of the court.
This new edition of the 21 collectible figurines is handmade and hand-painted, just like back then. Each figure is unique, and each monkey in his appearance as well. Together they make a highlight especially for collectible figurine lovers. They embody centuries-old craftsmanship and the spirit of the times. So is this charming "hurdy-gurdy player".
